Analysis of Breaking Dawn Part 2 trailer

'Breaking Dawn Part 2' is the final film of the Twilight Saga, it is of the adventure/fantasy genre. It continues the story of Bella and Edward's relationship and the birth of their daughter Renesmee. As it is the last in the series it includes the final confrontation between the Cullen's and the Volturi. It is rated a 12A and it's main target audience is teenagers, primarily females.

The trailer begins with an establishing shot of the woods and a voice over of Bella describing her life as a vampire. The statement 'After 18 years of being utterly ordinary, I finally found that I could shine' draws the audience in as they want to know more about Bella's life as a vampire as part 1 finished on a cliffhanger so the audience are impatient to find out more. There is then a close up of Bella's eye, which is red, further demonstrating how she is now a vampire, although this has already been established in the previous film so the audience want to continue watching the trailer in the hope of finding out more. There are then close ups and mid - shots of Edward and Bella which is a main aspect of the trailer for Twilight fans as all the films are revolved around their relationship so the audience is always intrigued to know more about them and they will be interested to know how Bella's transformation has affected them.

There is then a shot of Bella and Jacob which is an important part of the trailer for Twilight fans as the audience wants to know whether they are still friends after her now being a vampire. The main conflict of the film is then outlined as dramatic non - diegetic music begins to play and there are scenes with dark lighting as we see the Volturi are hunting down the Cullen's. This is followed by a montage of shots in which the first shot of the baby is shown, this is a major scene for the audience, especially fans as this is the first view of the baby so entices the audience into the trailer. There is then a close up of two hands, seeming to be a deal between the two people which raises a lot of questions for the audience.

Then the first title appears showing the release date of the film and as we see more vampires coming to help the Cullen's the music becomes louder making it more dramatic as the next title appears. After this the trailer becomes faster paced as the action increases and the music becomes louder. This attracts the audiences attention as they have to focus on all the different scenes to understand the trailer. The music then stops and the screen fades to black and we see the first shot of Bella and her daughter which is another important scene for the fans of the saga. The music then become louder instantly after this scene and the action picks up again which is effective on the audience as it keeps their interest as by changing the trailer from slow to fast paced then back again it makes you anticipate more what will happen next.

The trailer ends with a fade to black just before the two opposing sides meet which is an effective ending to the trailer as it leaves the audience with lots of unanswered questions and encourages them to go and see the film. The film plays on fade to blacks throughout which builds suspension throughout the trailer and further encourages the audience to go and see the film.
