Final Magazine Cover
How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
We have taken pictures of us with the camera and tripod which is the main equipment we used to film our trailer.

Throughout our trailer we relied on the tripod as we had many different locations and for some of our scenes in London and in the park the ground was uneven but the tripod ensured our shots were still and straight. We didn't use it throughout completely for example in the car chase scene, as we thought the handheld camera effect was more effective as by having it slightly shaky it indicated the high paced scene and the action genre.

We used Adobe photoshop to make our magazine cover and film poster. Initially we struggled with how to insert images and how to make them backgrounds and inserting texts as neither of us had used photoshop before. Although it took a while we figured out how photoshop layered different parts of the pictures and in order to edit or insert something new you had to ensure you were on the correct layer. Despite this being difficult the software had many different tools which allowed us to make our magazine cover and poster look professional. We could also make our text fit the conventions of our genre as we could use the same font we used in our trailer and the same colour which created a link between the three products.

We used Adobe premiere elements to edit all of our footage for our trailer. We hadn't used this before as we used Windows Movie Maker last year this meant that it took us a while to familiarize ourselves with the software. We used fade to blacks frequently throughout as this is a common convention of action trailers and also helped to build the tension throughout. Adobe allowed us to adjust our sound levels and we could also have different sound layers, this meant we could have our voiceover playing and still have the music in the background. This ensured continuity in our trailer and kept the audiences attention. We could also make the sound fade in and out which meant that the transitions between changes in volumes were smooth and made our trailer seem more professional.

We used blogger and YouTube to record our research throughout our planning, research and production stages for our trailer. Blogger was easy to use and we could put all of our pictures on here, we could also easily embed YouTube videos into posts which meant we could use both websites together. YouTube was good for our film diary so we could track all of our filming throughout and then post it on blogger. YouTube was also good because it was easy to use and we could easily put any footage on it, it was also a useful way to receive audience feedback as we could easily show our trailer to friends by just sending them the link.

We used social networking sites, Facebook and Twitter, to receive audience feedback from our target audience. As our target audience is 15 - 24 social networking sites are a good way to get audience feedback as the main target audience for Facebook and Twitter is teenagers and young adults. This allowed us to make sure that our trailer was up to a good standard as people aged from 15 - 24 will often go to the cinema so are used to seeing high budget professional films so could give us feedback bearing in mind their high expectations for films.
