Soundtrack research

To find a soundtrack for our trailer we downloaded different tracks off www.freeplaymusic.com which is a website which allows you to use their music for your own personal use without any copyright issues. We downloaded six different action tracks and put them on YouTube so we can analyse which one we think fits our the film the best. We want a soundtrack which starts slow and gradually builds up so that the tension build throughout the trailer.

The Polis

This soundtrack is good because it starts off slow and gradually builds up throughout, this is good for adding tension and building it up throughout the trailer. It slows down in the middle which is good as that is when we want to start our phone call, this is a common feature of action films that the music slows down if there is any speech so would be good for the trailer. This track is very long and we would only want certain parts of it so we would have to edit it and choose the parts we like and put them where we think is most appropriate in our trailer.

Horus

This music does gradually build up slowly throughout which is what we want for our trailer, however, the music would probably fit better with a horror film rather than an action film. The different instruments reinforce the frightening atmosphere, therefore this would not be suitable for our action trailer.

Golden Sphinx

This music is too slow paced it does not build up much throughout, therefore not building any suspense or creating a tension suggesting it may not be suitable for an action trailer. It also seems more adventure/ fantasy which is not the atmosphere we want to create and does not match the scenes we want to shoot.

Free People

To begin with this music is too short so would therefore not be suitable for our trailer. It is similar to the golden sphinx music in the way that it does not create the tense atmosphere we want and has more of an adventurous tone to it.

Catacombs

Likewise, this music does not create the tense atmosphere we want to create in our trailer. It would be more appropriate for a horror trailer as it remains at the same pace throughout and does not become faster paced towards the end so would not match the end scenes of our trailer.

Barbarian

This music would be good as it slowly builds suspense throughout, it also picks up pace towards the end which is good as it would match the scenes we want at the end of our trailer. It is slightly long but there is an irrelevant part in the middle that we could possibly cut out to make it more suitable.
