Institution research

20th Century Fox Film Corporation

Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation is one of the six major American film studios as of 2011. Located in the Century City area of Los Angeles, just west of Beverly Hills, the studio is a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. The company was founded in 1935.

The company has many subsidiaries: Fox searchlight pictures, Fox atomic, Fox interactive, 20th century fox home entertainment, Fox television studios, Blue sky studios, 20th century fox television and Fox star studios.

Some of Fox's most popular films are Avatar, Star Wars, Ice Age and Home Alone, however the company also produces famous TV shows such as The Simpsons and Family Guy. However, this company has also produced successful action films, for example Taken and - X Men. This could be a possible company for our action film, although the company does produce a wide variety of films, a big majority are family orientated films. Many of these films are also big budget films like Harry Potter as they bring in a wider range of audience so a bigger profit. Although action films are usually big budget films ours wouldn't be so we may choose a different institution instead of Fox.

Paramount Pictures

Paramount pictures corporation is an American film/distribution company. It is located at 5555 melrose avenue in Hollywood and it is the largest major film company which is still headquartered in Hollywood. Many successful films, TV shows and adverts have been filmed on the 64 acre plot. It was founded in 1912 and is currently owned by Viacom, it is America's oldest existing film studio and is ranked as one of the worlds top grossing film companies.

Paramount consists of different film labels, Paramount pictures, MTV films, Nickelodeon movies, Paramount vantage and Paramount Classics, it has also made distribution deals with marvel entertainment and dreamworks. The Company’s global business operations include Paramount Digital Entertainment, Paramount Famous Productions, Paramount Home Entertainment, Paramount Pictures International, Paramount Licensing Inc., Paramount Studio Group and Worldwide Television Distribution.

Paramount produces a wide variety of films ranging in different genres. They have produced Paranormal activity 1,2 and 3, Titanic, Super 8, Puss In Boots and Dreamgirls to name a few which highlights the range of films they produce. They have also produced many action films for example Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon and Captain America: The First Avenger. Paramount pictures may be a good institution to use for our film as the company produces a lot of action films so the genre is associated with the company.

Universal Studios

Universal Studios (also known as Universal Pictures), is an American motion picture studio, owned by Comcast, and one of the six major movie studios. It is one of the longest-lived motion picture studios to be located outside of Hollywood, celebrating 100 years this year. It is a division of American media conglomerate NBC UniversalIts production studios are at 100 Universal City Plaza Drive in Universal City, California Distribution and other corporate offices are in New York City. Universal Studios is a Member of the Motion Picture Association Of America.

Universal studios is also part of Universal animation studios, working title films, Illumination entertainment, focus features and Universal parks and resorts which are not just tourist attractions but used for filming as well.

Some popular films produced by Universal Pictures are: The Mummy, Mamma Mia, Little Fockers, Bridesmaids and Despicable Me. The company produces a wide variety of genres, specifically for our trailer we would want to know what action films they have previously produced. Some of these are The Bourne Legacy and Fast and Furious, this would be a good company to use for our trailer as it is a very well known company and is regarded highly so would attract an audience as expectations of the film would be high.
